“A similar situation prevails in BPO firms inside SEZs. “Unionism is covertly and overtly discouraged, even forbidden, in the call center industry,”according to Ofreneo. As of 2010, no union has been formed in any BPO firm, that confirms consistency with the “No union, No Strike” policy in EPZs. A number of BPO workers interviewed for this study shared that their employment contracts include provisions stating that they should not join or form any union, and part of the training for new employeesincludes discouraging them from joining or forming a union.”
